London Wall Place is a 500,000 sq ft scheme designed by MAKE, delivering two landmark office buildings and extensive, landscaped public realm. The regeneration of this section of London Wall will bring renewed vibrancy to one of London’s most important districts.

Interflow is the UK distributor and installer of a specialist range of products for the built environment. DOYMA pipe sealing systems prevent structural damage. Wherever service ducts are installed through walls, ceilings or floors, penetrating water, other liquids or humidity may cause damage to buildings, DOYMA duct sealing systems ensure professional and perfect sealing, thus presenting excellent preventative measures against structural damage.

For the London Wall scheme, Interflow has provided the DOYMA Curaflex pipe doyma 6000 pipe sleeveCuraflex 6000 sleeve 6000. The inside face of the sleeve provides an optimum contact surface for the elastomer of the Curaflex gasket insert, making it the perfect option for the project. Other key benefits include it is a steel pipe sleeve for high static loads with integrated fixed and loose flanges which can be installed flush within the shuttering.

It is also gas-tight and, depending on the tanking membranes, can be supplied with elastomer packings, Curaflex 1775, to securely clamp thin and hard membranes; other accessories for thick and sprayed-on membrane systems are also available.doyma curaflex 3000

The DOYMA Curaflex pipe sleeve 3000 was also specified, which forms a watertight bond with the concrete because the coefficient of expansion of the material corresponds to that of concrete and is ideal for buildings without tanking membranes.

The DOYMA Curaflex pipe sleeve 3001 is a dimensionally stable and resistant special fibre material on which the inside face provides an optimum contact surface for the elastomer of the Curaflex gasket insert.

doyma curaflex 3001The two buildings comprising London Wall Place have been designed to enable half of the site to be dedicated to open space, creating a new destination for the area through a series of new gardens set amongst the historic monuments including the Roman City Wall and St Alphage Church Tower remains.

2 London Wall Place is a 16 storey tower providing floors of 12,000 sq ft. The building has elegant architecture, enhanced by vertical glazing strips and a spectacular triple height space at the top of the building.

1 London Wall Place is 300,000 sq ft headquarters building. Arranged over 12 storeys, its innovative design concept provides floor plate sizes of approximately 9,000 sq ft to 42,000 sq ft. Its landscaped sky gardens breathe new life into City working. The building has been fully let to Schroders Plc.

The scheme is assessed ‘Excellent’ with occupier co-operation under BREEAM 2014; it represents a minimum of 25% improvement over 2010 Part L Building Regulation requirements. The project has also been designed for the latest environmentally efficient heating, cooling and ventilation systems as well as lighting.

  • The wall must be clean, flat and dry in the installation vicinity.
  • There may be no grooves, cracks and breakouts on the wall surface in the installation vicinity.
  • The seals and pipe services must be clean and free of damage.
  • Ensure that the pipe to be sealed off is centred and does not exert any radial forces on the sealing module.
  • The pressure plates must be evenly aligned.
  • The number of sealing modules to be fitted in accordance with the calculation program (http://psi-products.de/linksealberechnung/) must be observed in all cases.

The link chain version C is suitable for sealing off steel pipes which are fed through walls, ceilings and bases. One advantage of this sealing method is the possible retrospective installation.

Installation instructions


Measure diameter of pipe and core bore/sleeve.

The DDE system allows selection of the correct sealing module according to service diameter.

Slide the gasket along the service into the annular space and position it at the wet side. Tighten opposite nuts (SW 10) in several stages (3 steps min) – note Figure 4. Tighten until the end nut element shears off.

Gasket insert via the line into the annular space slide.

Position the gasket insert on water side.

The nuts (SW 10) alternately cross each a few turns at several intervals (note Figure 4). Tighten until shearing off the upper nut.

Curaline® BKD-and KD-systems

Curaline® cable duct systems comprise sleeves with flanges and various system caps. These sleeves and caps form a system which is designed for quick and easy installation and which is tight against gas and pressing water. All cable types and sizes can be readily and flexibly sealed. All edges are rounded to protect cable insulation and avoid damage as the cable is pulled through. Perfect sealing on cables and spigots -even against pressing water -is achieved by heat shrink sleeves.

Sleeves

With a flange on one or both ends, sleeves are set flush in the shuttering and cast in either individually or as a multiple battery. The innovative combination of expanding seal system and sleeve construction ensures a perfect bonding to the concrete. Curaline® BKD-and KD-systems are delivered to site in the length to suit wall thickness.

System caps

System caps offer a multiplicity of possibilities for sealing cables and cable ducts. Curaline® BKD system caps have a bayonet action lock to allow quick and easy installation. Curaline® KD system caps with screw thread offer the same optimum possibilities and solutions. System caps accept cables with different diameters to be ducted and sealed. Heat shrink sleeves are delivered as standard with the system. Cold shrink sleeves are available as an option.

Materials

Curaline® BKD-and KD-systems consist of PC (Polycarbonate), ABS (Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene-Polymer) and PVC-U (Polyvinylchloride), the solid rubber gasket is made of EPDM (Ethylene-Propylene-Di-monomer).

Curaline® BKD 150/400x, cable duct system in combination with fixed and loose flange

Constructions with a high risk of ingress of water often have tanking membranes or bituminous thick-coating on the face of outside walls. For those constructions a BKD 150 cable duct is available with an additional fixed and loose flange system to allow a perfect sealing.

Curaline® KSS duct system

Curaline® KSS offers a wide range of application possibilities, e.g. gas-and watertight connection between two buildings. The system consists of a flexible, mechanically strong, load-bearing spiral duct, which is connected to the sleeve flange using either the bayonet or the screw thread system. According to requirements, the appropriate connection to the sleeve flange can be chosen from a wide range of different components.

Curaline® GE building earthing

The DOYMA Curaline® GE building earthing devices are available as sleeve, potential, insulation and retrofit grounding in rigid and flexible forms for many applications.

Curaline® Vario

A very flexible gasket insert for retrofit sealing of cables already installed. The system consists of a hinged Curaflex® gasket with a rubber core made to order.

For most applications of sealing and ducting cables through walls and ceilings standard Curaflex® gasket inserts can also be used. In addition, we offer Curaflex® gasket inserts MS/C and MS/A which are exclusively designed for cables and cable ducts.

  • The wall must be clean, level and dry in the installation area.
  • There may be no grooves, cracks or breakouts on the wall surface in the installation area.
  • The seals and pipe surfaces must be clean and free of damage.
  • Only remove protective film before cable laying. If necessary, slightly heat the protective film.
  • Avoid soiling and damage to the bayonet fixtures.
  • Before installation, ensure that the system cover O-ring is greased.
  • Ensure that the service lines to be sealed off our appropriately fixed and that there are no radial forces acting on the sealing system.

Curaline® BKD 150 is a system for sealing off cables which are fed through walls or ceilings from outside a building. The maximum cable diameter is 108 mm.

Installation of this cable duct is split into 2 stages, installation of the flange sleeve during the shell construction phase and subsequent installation of the system cap.

DOYMA CuraInn® Service Ducts

Whenever services need to be neatly passed through walls or core bores, we have an appropriate service duct. The products range from rational, simple systems to complex solutions for the most exacting requirements in laboratories and hospitals.

The service tradesman, for the most part, installs service ducts at the same time as installing the service.

Normally, the duct comprises the sleeve ( 300 mm or 1000 mm long), rosette/plaster rings and rubber seals. All components readily fit together and are easily assembled on site. The shank length of the rosette helps compensate for wall and floor thickness variations. Sleeve and rosettes/plaster rings can be bonded together (17010 and 17020). For permanent closure of the cut out or core bore, we recommend the use of expanding grout from mortar group lll.

Properties

The most important properties of DOYMA service ducts for interior finishing are:

  • Meet the requirements of DIN 4109: Noise Protection.
  • Heat insulation according to the Heat Protection Order (Date 11/96).
  • Gas- and air tight.
  • Leakproof against damp and water.

Pressing / non-pressing water

Pressing water – water which exerts hydrostatic pressure (even if limited in time, e.g. accumulating seepage water) on the structural element with the feedthrough. Groundwater and floodwater are typical water types. Non-pressing water – water which does not exert any hydrostatic pressure on the structural element with the feedthrough. Capillary water is a typical water type.

Non-waterproof structures must be protected with a sealing coat against penetrating water. This sealing coat can be in the form of sheeting, trowelable or liquid-applicable masses and therefore results in a skin-type seal. Since bitumen plays a major role in terms of materials, these forms of seals are often known as a “black tank”. Waterproof or non-water-permeable structures do not require additional skin sealing. This type of structure includes those using impermeable reinforced concrete. This type of structural waterproofing is also known as a “white tank”.

Installation in the wall / in front of the wall

The wall thickness is normally sufficient for installing a Curaflex® pipe sleeve. In this case, the sealing system is also located in the wall. If the wall is too thin, or the costs too high, to adapt the wall feedthrough for inserting a pipe sleeve and a gasket insert appropriately, it is recommended that the system is installing on the face of the wall

Please note before installing the pipe sleeve:

  1. If Curaflex® 3000 or 3000/T or a gasket insert is fixed in a special fibre cement pipe sleeve which is not yet concreted in place, this should only be slightly pre-tightened. Otherwise, the pipe sleeve could be damaged. Once concreting is complete, tighten the gasket insert with the specified torque.
  2. If the service line has already been laid, then the pipe sleeve must be positioned centred around the service line and fixed before concreting.
  3. If possible, place pipe sleeves at a spacing of minimum 10 cm between each other during concreting so that compaction of the concrete/mortar is easier; also observe a spacing of 10 cm between the pipe sleeve and the breakthrough borders when installing in existing walls.

Before installing the gasket insert, please note:

  1. Curaflex® gasket inserts are maintenance-free. Re-tightening the bolts is not necessary if installed correctly.
  2. Does the gasket insert fit? Compare service line and pipe sleeve diameters with the information on the gasket insert.
  3. The nut side of the gasket insert should be facing the dry side of the wall.
  4. Gasket inserts are not fixed points or supports, but are exclusively intended for elastic sealing of service lines.
  5. Slight axial movements of the service lines are permissible.
  6. The seals and pipe services must be clean and free of damage.

Curaflex® 3300 is a pipe penetration system for sealing off service lines against pressing water. The system consists of a Curaflex ® C gasket insert and the Curaflex® 3000 pipe sleeve. It can be built into walls, ceilings or bases in sealing systems without sealing sheets or bituminous coating.

DOYMA 25 Years Guarantee

As an extension to the statutory rights of the customer, DOYMA guarantees the correct functioning of your DOYMA product for 25 years from the date of its purchase. The effective date for validity is 01.01.2007. However, should the DOYMA product fail to function correctly during this time as a result of a product defect and consequential damage occurs, then DOYMA will:

  • Replace the defective DOYMA product.
  • Reimburse the required installation and removal costs following prior agreement with DOYMA up to a maximum amount of 10000 €. DOYMA reserves the right to carry out the work, which is necessary within the framework of the maximum amount, themselves or to have it carried out by a DOYMA approved third party.
  • Reimburse the cost of all property damage incurred as a consequence of the defective DOYMA product, in particular damage to your property that has been caused by the ingress of water, and repair work that has become necessary, in particular drying, painting and masonry work, following prior agreement with DOYMA, up to a maximum amount of 100000 € in each individual case, in so far as the damage was foreseeable by DOYMA; DOYMA reserves the right to carry out the work required for the rectification of the damage themselves or to have it carried out by a DOYMA approved third party.

This guarantee is only applicable when the actual DOYMA product itself is defective, and is therefore not applicable when the failure of the DOYMA product has occurred as a result of the product having been installed or used in a manner which is contrary to established engineering principles in the construction industry and particularly DOYMA application and installation guidelines; it also does not apply when the failure of the DOYMA product is related to damage to the product sustained prior to, during or post installation howsoever caused. Should you be unable to refute a substantiated objection from DOYMA, that one of the grounds for exclusion outlined here is applicable, then the rights of the guarantee will be void.

A prerequisite for making a claim under this guarantee is the submission of the original purchase invoice for the DOYMA product involved in the complaint, without this the rights contained in this guarantee are unenforceable. Aquagard concrete sealant

The system consists of
  • AQUAGARD primer (Curaflex® 1710/1711) Primer for AQUAGARD special paint
    The primer penetrates deep into the capillaries and air bubbles in the concrete, and closes these off so that they are permanently waterproof. This means that water cannot permeate around the gasket insert. The primer is applied using a brush or roller.
  • AQUAGARD special paint (Curaflex® 1715/1716) Special paint for sealing off core drillings
    Aquaguard special paint seals off the surface of the core drilling walls and simultaneously protects any possibly cut reinforcing steel against corrosion. The special paint is also applied with a brush or roller.

Concrete needs protection!

Without protection concrete will permit moisture penetration to some depth before it becomes an absolute barrier – that is how moisture circumvents the gasket.

The product

Aquagard comprises a colourless base primer and a concrete-grey special paint top coat having a coverage of 3.5 – 4 m² per litre; both products can be brush or roller applied. The primer requires about 1 hour ventilation time at room temperature and the top coat will be touch dry within two hours at room temperature and fully cured within five to six hours.

Curaflex® packings (for thin or hard membranes) (1775).

Packings consist of 2 no. 3 mm thick EPDM cutouts which are matched to the dimensions and hole diameters of the selected fixed/loose flange structures.

General

In accordance with DIN 18195-9, single-layer, loosely-laid tanking membranes must be edged using permanently compatible packings on both sides. Sealtightness is only guaranteed for fixed and loose flange structures if the thickness and the elasticity of the tanking membranes or also the packings is sufficient that they are pressed against the substrate to form a seal. Before laying ceiling sheets, the information provided by the sheeting manufacture must be observed in addition to the specifications in the standard (laying guidelines)!

A) Application with very thin or hard sealing sheets – Curaflex® 1775

If tanking membranes are made of very thin and/or very hard materials, even pressing onto the substrate is often insufficient. When such tanking membranes are used, the standard proposes the use of packings.

DOYMA packings are made of material-compatible EPD elastomer and have already been provided with the necessary boltholes on the fixed flange, and are therefore ready for installation. These matching packings are not included in delivery as standard.

B) Application with other sealing sheets

In the case of tanking membranes made, for example, of bitumen or bitumen rubber, even pressing onto the substrate is provided in most cases. In such cases, there are no problems with regard to sealtightness. For this reason, packings are not necessary.

Caution!

If steel pipe sleeves are built into building walls with bituminous coating, the contact surfaces must be sand-coated in the works. When ordering, please always state the following in such cases: “For bituminous coating”.

Application description

The contact areas / internal areas of fixed and loose flanges in the Curaflex® 5000, C/2/SD/5, F/2/SD/5 products and the Curaflex® 6000, 7000, 8000, C/2/SD/6 and F/2/SD/6 products will be sand-coated. WEROPOX-EP Primer no. 6142 with 6141- H hardener is used as a carrier material for the leading sand. Areas around drill holes or the bolts themselves, in locations where O-rings and U-washers will be applied, may not be sand-coated. Diameter of these surfaces: 40 mm for non-pressing water, 55 mm for pressing water

Sand coating is not necessary for Curaflex® 4005 and 4006 pipe sleeves.

Bitumen bituminous coating are to be applied in several layers according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Once the first layer has been applied the fleece insert, which is 100 mm larger than the fixed flange all round, is pressed into the first layer while still wet. After this, the fleece insert is trowelled in wet in wet so that the minimum dry layer thickness for the load case in question has been achieved.

Once the drying time stipulated by the manufacturer has expired, the bitumen filling compound will be broken out in the areas around threaded drill holes or bolts, for example using a hollow punch, depending on the version of the fixed or loose flange structure (Accessory Curaflex® hollow punch 1777/6 (5) or 1778/6 (5)). If Curaflex® products against pressing water are being used, spacer rings of 4 mm thickness are to be inserted between the flanges around each bolt, and in the case of Curaflex® products against non-pressing water the spacer rings are of 3 mm thickness. This prevents the overall bitumen filling compound being squeezed out when the loose flange is tightened, and also achieves a defined layer thickness of the bitumen filling compound between the fixed and the loose flange.

Furthermore, rubber O-rings are placed around the bolts and the spacer rings to prevent any possible pressure losses in the areas around the bolts.

The Curaflex® pipe sleeve range from DOYMA are proven for cases in which sealed apertures for construction are needed. Together with the DOYMA pipe gasket inserts they form a perfect pipe sealing solution. Made either from special fibre cement or steel, Curaflex® cable sleeves allow access for all piping during the building phase or after construction. DOYMA’s Curaflex® pipe sleeves offer all this even where there are no suitable core bores or openings available.

Pressing / non-pressing water

Pressing water – water which exerts hydrostatic pressure (even if limited in time, e.g. accumulating seepage water) on the structural element with the feedthrough.
Groundwater and floodwater are typical water types. Non-pressing water – water which does not exert any hydrostatic pressure on the structural element with the feedthrough. Capillary water is a typical water type.

Non-waterproof structures must be protected with a sealing coat against penetrating water. This sealing coat can be in the form of sheeting, trowelable or liquid-applicable masses and therefore results in a skin-type seal. Since bitumen plays a major role in terms of materials, these forms of seals are often known as a “black tank”. Waterproof or non-water-permeable structures do not require additional skin sealing. This type of structure includes those using impermeable reinforced concrete. This type of structural waterproofing is also known as a “white tank”.

Installation in the wall / in front of the wall

The wall thickness is normally sufficient for installing a Curaflex® cable sleeve. In this case, the sealing system is also located in the wall. If the wall is too thin, or the costs too high, to adapt the wall feedthrough for inserting a pipe sleeve and a gasket insert appropriately, it is recommended that the system is installing on the face of the wall

Application areas

Practical experience on site has shown that only by installing Doyma sealing systems, consisting of cable sleeve and gasket inserts, secure and lasting watertight penetrations for pipes and cables through walls, ceilings and floors are guaranteed. A Curaflex® cable sleeve, whether manufactured from special fibre cement or from steel, and Curaflex® gasket inserts form a reliable sealing system of highest quality for all pipe and cable service ducts leading from outside into a building.

Materials

The sleeves are manufactured, in accordance with the numerous constructional requirements, from special fibrous cement and/or steel for the commonly encountered conditions of pressing and non-pressing water and ground moisture.

Curaflex® special fibre cement pipe sleeve

  • Manufactured from special high-grade, asbestos-free fibre cement.
  • Principal installation area of the sleeves: in structural walls, floors and ceilings.
  • The material absorbs moisture from the surrounding structure, the formation of shrinkage cracks is eliminated.
  • Series Curaflex® 3000 has a grooved outer surface in order to become absolutely homogenous with the structure, providing a durable, watertight bond with the concrete because he coefficient of expansion of the material corresponds to that of concrete.
  • The inside face of the sleeve provides an optimum contact surface for the elastomer of the gasket insert when installed in the sleeve.
  • No corrosion is possible.

Curaflex® steel sleeves

Steel sleeves are equally reliable and durably resistant construction components for use with Curaflex® gasket inserts.

Surface treatment

  • Electro-galvanized mild steel (DIN 50961), yellow passivated and sealant coated. Passivating approximately doubles the corrosion resistance of electro-galvanized steel; Coating doubles the resistance yet again – a four-fold improvement over simple electro-galvanized steel.
  • Stainless steel grades 304 and 316 are supplied in pickled condition.

Curaflex® 3001: Sleeve with additional flange suitable for structures with bituminous thick-coating.

Curaflex® 400x: Sleeve combines the advantages of the special fibre cement sleeve with the durability of cast iron.

Curaflex® steel cable sleeve

Curaflex® 6000: Steel sleeve with continuously welded fixed flange. Used together with a loose flange and a gasket for sealing penetrations through buildings with tanking membranes against pressing water.
Curaflex® 5000: same as Curaflex®6000, but against non-pressing water.
Curaflex® 7006: Sealing of pipes/cables on the face of walls -with a fixed and loose flange construction for buildings with tanking membranes or bituminous thick-coating. Sealing against pressing water. Curaflex 7006/T in split form for retrofit installation.
Curaflex® 7005: same as Curaflex®7006, but against non-pressing water/soil moisture.
Curaflex® 8000: sealing of pipes/cables on the face of walls with fixed flange.
Sealing against pressing or non-pressing water. Curaflex 8000/T in split form for retrofit installation.
Curaflex® 9000: Steel sleeve with continuously welded puddle flange. Sealing against pressing water, non-pressing water/soil moisture.

Please note:

  1. The wall must be clean, flat and dry in the steel pipe sleeve installation vicinity.
  2. No grooves, cracks or breakouts may be present on the wall surface in the steel pipe sleeve installation vicinity.
  3. The steel pipe sleeve must be clean and free of dust and grease.
  4. If a pipe sleeve is present in the wall, it must finish flush with the wall surface.
  5. The diameter of the core drilling/wall pipe sleeve must be smaller than the steel pipe sleeve pipe socket. If this is not the case, a special construction is necessary.
  6. If the pipe/cable is not centralised in the pipe sleeve, a special construction may be necessary in consultation with DOYMA.
  7. You will require a sealing element to seal off the annular gap between pipe/cable and pipe sleeve. We recommend the installation of a Curaflex® gasket insert*
  8. To ensure that the Curaflex® Butyl sealing tape (1753) bonds better to the steel pipe sleeve, additional accessories are required, for example. Sika Adhesive Cleaner-1 (yield per litre: approx. 8 – 9 m2)*

Curaflex® 8000 is a steel cable sleeve for sealing structures with bituminous coating (black tank) sealed against non-pressing water / soil moisture (not in acc. w. DIN 18195-9). The sealing material is a butyl sealing tape (1753). Installation of the pipe sleeve takes place on the existing, hardened thick-coated membrane.

Position the steel pipe sleeve in the wall and mark the rawlplug holes. Important: if pipe has already been laid, it is imperative that the pipe sleeve is centred in the pipe.

Drill the rawlplug holes and insert the rawlplugs.

Pre-treating the steel pipe sleeve with Sika Adhesive Cleaner-1. Apply to the rear side of the steel sheet (opposite the sleeve) with the help of a brush or cloth.

Glue the butyl sealing tape (1753) onto the rear of the steel sheet in a spider’s web pattern. Leave a diameter of around 25 mm free around drill holes. In this case, the rawlplug seam acts as a spacer between the wall and the sheet. A pre-requirement for permanent sealing is application of the sealing tape without gaps.

Push the plastic washers onto the special screws, and then fix the steel cable sleeve to the wall by placing and tightening the screws.

The installation is correct if butyl runs out around the entire circumference both inside and outside when tightening the screws. Remove any protruding butyl from the cable sleeve.

DOYMA Curaflex® pipe gasket inserts overview

Interflow supplies a comprehensive range of DOYMA Pipe Gasket inserts which can be used as part of a complete pipe sealing system. Often referred to as flange gaskets, their use is to prevent the leakage of fluid between the two components that are static or don’t have relative motion despite ongoing compressibility. DOYMA pipe gasket materials are usually a mixture of steel, plastic and rubber.

DOYMA manufacture a range that includes both pipe gasket sealing against pressing water and without. Gasketing pipe systems are essential to ensure that no matter where the pipe enters the building, a perfect standard of air tightness and waterproofing is achieved.

Pressing / non-pressing water

Pressing water – water which exerts hydrostatic pressure (even if limited in time, e.g. accumulating seepage water) on the structural element with the feedthrough. Groundwater and floodwater are typical water types. Non-pressing water – water which does not exert any hydrostatic pressure on the structural element with the feedthrough. Capillary water is a typical water type.

Non-waterproof structures must be protected with a sealing coat against penetrating water. This sealing coat can be in the form of sheeting, trowelable or liquid-applicable masses and therefore results in a skin-type seal. Since bitumen plays a major role in terms of materials, these forms of seals are often known as a “black tank”. Waterproof or non-water-permeable structures do not require additional skin sealing. This type of structure includes those using impermeable reinforced concrete. This type of structural waterproofing is also known as a “white tank”.

The unique Double Profile System (DPS) generates a differential contact pressure by means of profiled sealing frames and caters for a larger sealing surface.

The unique DOYMA grip is a special elastomer with high adhesive force on the media pipe. Together, this caters for excellent and permanent sealing of the DOYMA pipe gasket inserts.

Sealing

DOYMA DPS distributes the pressure more intelligently: In comparison to conventional pipe gasket inserts, the contact pressure increases towards the core bore (or pipe sleeve). At the same time, the contact pressure on the media pipe is reduced by up to 30 %.

Please note:

  1. The wall must be clean, flat and dry in the installation vicinity.
  2. There may be no grooves, cracks and breakouts on the wall surface in the installation vicinity.
  3. Masonry must always be fitted with a pipe sleeve.
  4. The seals and pipe services must be clean and free of damage.
  5. Curaflex® gasket inserts are maintenance-free. Re-tightening the bolts is not necessary if installed correctly.
  6. Does the gasket insert fit? Compare service line and pipe sleeve/core drilling diameter with the information on the gasket insert.
  7. The nut side of the gasket insert should be facing the dry side of the wall.
  8. Pipe gasket inserts are not fixed points or supports, but are exclusively intended for elastic sealing of service lines.
  9. Slight axial movements of the service lines are permissible.
  10. We recommend sealing the drillhole walls with Curaflex® Aquagard (primer 1710/1711 and special paint 1715/1716).

Overview:

This phase of the Victoria Station upgrade involved the electrical installation between the North Ticket Hall and South Ticket Hall, whilst keeping the station operational. Mott McDonald had designed the power and communication cable network to follow a route to the external of the station building, under adjacent roads and into each ticket hall. This formed the most practical way of connecting both ticket halls effectively, but required an effective watertight sealing system that ensured the vital network cables were protected.

Solution:

Mott McDonald approved the installation of Interflow UK Ltd’s DOYMA Service Duct Sealing system on the project. As the service ducts needed to be installed through the walls of both the North and South Ticket hall, it was vital that there was no risk of water penetration at the joints of wall, duct and cable, particularly in light of a high water table within the vicinity. The fact that Interflow UK Ltd installed and supplied a product in one package was vital to the solution. The DOYMA system of high density EPDM, within a steel gasket, ensured that the cable network was protected from both water and gas infiltration. This was supported in the design, manufacture and installation by Interflow of two bespoke penetration plates as required by the specification. As an additional fail safe, new tanking was installed over the top of the connection.

Why Interflow Were Used:

Key to the success of this package was that Interflow UK Ltd installed the DOYMA System on site, using their skilled installation team, whilst being the appointed UK supplier of the DOYMA system. Additionally, a 25 year insurance backed product guarantee was supplied. Moreover, the DOYMA system was quicker to install than considered alternatives, enabling the programme to stay ahead of schedule and minimising disruption to road users in the area.
